The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex lock-and-key system identified in the beginning of the 1990s by Scientist studying THC, the most popular cannabinoid found in hemp and marijuana.

Cannabinoids are the compounds found in all cannabis plants.

Taxonomic research has discovered that the ECS is very old, having evolved over 500 million years ago.

The ECS is present in all animals with a vertebrae – mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, etc, all produce endocannabinoids.

The Endocannabinoid System still exists and is active in your body even if you don’t use products that contain cannabinoids.

Research initially revealed endocannabinoid receptors were just found in the nerves and brains of animals and humans, but researchers later discovered that the receptors are present throughout the body, including our:  blood vessels, skin, skeletal muscles, pancreases, kidney, heart, liver, immune cells, fat tissue, bones, as well as the gastrointestinal tract.

Endocannabinoids are still not yet fully understood. But so far, we do know it plays role in regulating a range of processes and functions, including:

  • Sleep
  • Mood
  • Appetite
  • Memory
  • Reproduction and fertility
  • Energy
  • Inflammation

How does CBD work with the Endocannabinoid system (ECS)?

More research has been done on THC, and scientist are debating their finding on exactly how the Endocannabinoid System works with CBD and other cannabinoids found in the cannabis sativa plants. Some believe CBD prevents the endocannabinoids from being broken down; allowing them to have more of an effect on your body. Others believe that CBD binds with a receptor that hasn’t yet been discovered.

Regardless on how the ECS reacts with CBD, initial studies show that CBD does have an effect on the body through the interaction with the ECS, and can help the body achieve homeostasis. Homeostasis is the tendency to maintain a stable, relatively constant environment within your body. While the details of how it works are still under debate, initial research suggests that CBD can help with your overall wellbeing when taken as a supplement or used in cosmetics.
Whist we cannot make medical claims for CBD, because research on this particular cannabinoid is still ongoing, we can say that it does react with the Endo cannabinoid system which has a part to play in almost all aspects of bodily function.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the Cannabis sativa plant, which is also known as marijuana or hemp.

It’s one of the 114 naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis sativa (hemp) plants. It used in products like oils, cosmetics, and edibles which form a large portion of the CBD industry. Unlike its sister compound, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive chemical in marijuana it will not get you high.

How does CBD work?
CBD works with the body’s own endocannabinoid system which is a complex biological system within our bodies.

The Endocannabinoid System has three main components that we know about: , enzymes, endocannabinoids, and receptors. These are present in the body regardless of whether someone uses CBD or not. Everyone is born with an Endocannabinoid System.

The enzymes in the system break down the cannabinoids, the endocannabinoids then bind with receptors. Medical researchers have uncovered that CBD doesn’t directly attach to the receptor but somehow influences it. Switching on these receptors is what creates the health benefits that people associate with the compound.

Will CBD Get me High?
No. CBD Supplements will not make you high. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the psychoactive substance in cannabis that gets you high. Our products are derived from cannabis plants that have been bred with little or no THC. Our products contain less than .02% of the substance which is the legal limit in the UK. Our lab reports will show you how much THC you will find in each batch of our products.
Is CBD legal in the UK.
Yes. CBD is legal in the UK. in order for CBD to be legal in the UK, it must contain less than .02% of the psychoactive chemical THC. All of our products are vigorously and regularly tested to ensure or products are legal to sell in the UK.
Will CBD help my medical condition?
CBD interacts with your body’s Endocannabinoid System. Medical scientists identified the system in the 1990s, and much is still unknown about how it works and its interactions. Currently, Medical Researchers know that it interacts with several major processes in the body, including sleep, appetite, memory, inflammation, mood, and energy, but there is much more to still be discovered.

Our products are not intended to diagnose, cure, or prevent any medical condition or disease. We are not legally allowed to make any medical claims about our products. We recommend that our cannabis supplements be accompanied by a healthy, varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.
